10 5 16 morning call

Just a short windsurfing session for me yesterday, the wind was gusty and it was hard. But there were some clean sections, thanks to the slightly offshore wind.

This looked like Junko, who I haven't seen in a long time.

Significant buoy readings 5am:
Lanai
1.3ft @ 14s from 204° (SSW)
1ft @ 18s from 193° (SSW)
A lovely one foot 18s at the Lanai buoy will deserve a webcam check.

NW
5.3ft @ 9s from 87° (E)
2ft @ 12s from 322° (NW)

Waimea
2.2ft @ 11s from 327° (NW)

Pauwela
4.7ft @ 9s from 68° (ENE)
3.9ft @ 7s from 66° (ENE)
2ft @ 11s from 350° (N)
The windswell went down a tiny bit, but those 2f 11s from the north will amply compensate for it. Should be a fun size out there today, stay tuned for the beach report.

Current wind maps shows the strong NW fetch and a decent Tasman sea one.
The pressure in the middle of the NW low is 965 and that is a proper storm. As we said yesterday, the related swell will hence be a proper one on Saturday. We just got to hang on the windswell scraps till then. I actually hope that tomorrow there might be something more at the Lanai buoy for a Lahaina trip, but we'll have to wait and see for that. It's called the morning call for a reason.

MC2km updated their maps yesterday, but not this morning yet, so this is today's map at noon, but more than 24h old. I sill like it better than those windguru models. Anyway, the usual moderate trades.

Last but not least, let me publicize a piano concert.
